It’s All About Relationships
Step 1: Discipleship begins when you invest in your relationship with God. Take 15-20 minutes a day to read and carefully examine the Scriptures for their meaning. Listen intently to God’s voice. Apply God’s Truth to your life and teach your family to do the same. As you submit your life to God, He will give you wisdom to guide your family in their relationship with Him. Step 2:
Connect with a Small Group (6-15) or Discipleship Group (2-4). Both are designed to encourage believers in their walk with Christ. They teach and model family discipleship and use accountability questions to hold one another accountable for our spiritual responsibilities and character transformation.
Connect with a Small Group (6-15) or Discipleship Group (2-4). Both are designed to encourage believers in their walk with Christ. They teach and model family discipleship and use accountability questions to hold one another accountable for our spiritual responsibilities and character transformation. Transformation occurs as God uses his Word to convict us of sin and change our hearts, attitudes and perspective. God uses His followers to speak the Truth in love to one another and walk through the issues of life together in a confidential manner. As you use your spiritual gifts, you love others in practical ways and build up the Body of Christ. This is a crucial component to discipleship because you are helping others become disciples. Both groups strategically pray for the spiritual needs of the group, their church, and the lost by name.
A Small Groupis usually made up of families, but can also be a men’s or women’s group. They meet once a week and can choose to study other things, but they understand that the foundation of discipleship is imperative to true growth and maturity. It is important to pair up with someone in your group to ask the more personal questions during the week. Not all intimate things need to be shared in a mixed group. Sensitive items should be addressed one on one. Once the small group has 12 committed adult members it is time to multiply, so it is important that others are apprenticed for reproduction.
Discipleship Groups are smaller and have more flexibility in their meeting times. They commit to reading larger portions of Scripture and to read them repetitively. Discipleship Groups are gender specific and they use the Accountability Questions for discussion, confession, rebuke and exhortation. They apply what God is teaching them. Once the group has 4 committed members, it is time for the group to multiply.
Step 3: God desires for us to covenant with other believers and with those He has called to lead His flock in a local congregation. This relationship is an essential ingredient to becoming a disciple, as we submit to Christ as the Head of the church and to one another for His glory. We celebrate the greatness of God in our lives through praise and testimony. We worship through biblical teaching, giving of our tithes and offerings, by collectively reaching out to our community, through fellowship by reaching our world through missions.
When We Love God Completely & Love Others Sacrificially we are transformed into a beautiful reflection of Christ
